Backed Up Files Confusion

Hi All, Haven't posted here in a hundred years, but now I have a question.

I'm using Paragon Free 14 (on Win7) and backed up my drives last night.

I was under the impression that Paragon created a mirror image of the HDs, but I didn't recognize any of the files on the back up drive (Separate, portable HD).....can't make heads nor tails of'em. Here's what some of them look like:

hdd-o-pvhd
hdd-o_eoo,po1 (through po15)
hdd-o_eoo.pbe

Did I do something wrong or am I using the wrong...

How to make a bootable VM from a hard drive REMOVED from another PC

We have a computer that has failed, the hard drive inside is fine and has an application on there that we cannot install onto another machine (no install disks).

We would like to make an image of this machine and then boot it in VMWare. So far we have failed to do this. I know how to do this for a machine that is running, but just cannot do it for the computer after we have removed its hard disk.

Anyone have some advice please?

Error attempting to restore files to Bitlocker partition

I have successfully performed a full backup of my entire machine using Backup and Recovery 15 Home--I'm currently in the evaluation period for the full version. Note that all volumes on my machine are Bitlocker-encrypted.

My next step is to attempt to recover a couple of files from the backup. When I go through the Restore from VD Wizard and tell it to restore the files to the original location, Restore now, then Apply, I receive the following pop-up:

Cannot disable BCD modifications when copying a hard drive

Hi all,

I'm trying to create a perfect 1:1 copy of Windows 10 hard disk image without changing BCD or drive letters but no matter what I do, the Hard Disk Manager (HDM) seems to be changing or at least trying to change BCD data.

Here is what I do:
- build a Recovery CD on Windows 7
- boot my test machine from the Recovery CD
- go to HDM Settings -> Backup -> Copy and backup options - uncheck the checkbox "Automatic BCD update"
- close Settings
- go to Copy&Migration tab and click...

Cannot create a full image of USB flash, but can copy single partitoon

In HDM Pro 2015, I tried to create a full backup image of my Apacer USB Flash 8GB. It was made bootable with Easy2Boot utility, which created two partitions - one 7.6GB, another one 31KB and also 20MB free space.

I picked "Backup to VD", then in the Wizard I picked "Back up volumes". Then I selected entire USB disk, so at the end it looked like this:

The orange part is that tiny Easy2Boot service partition, and the green part is unallocated...

Problems when trying to Enlarge Back Up Capsule

Using HDM15 Suite, I have previously created a Back Up Capsule as a partition on an external 3TB USB drive.

There is space on the drive to enlarge the current capsule, which is about 2295 GB, with an Unallocated Space of 196 GB available on the drive. (There are also two further partitions on the drive, formatted as NTFS). I would like to add this currently unallocated space to the back up capsule. Using the option to Enlarge the capsule, the process rapidly fails with a message that...

I am interested in purchasing this new product that claims it will take an OS from an old pc and put it in a new one with different hardware and have the OS boot flawlessly. I am quite skeptical. After you finish taking the image from the old pc and then put it in the new pc, where does Paragon get the drivers for the new hardware?

Recovery medeia builder can't find waik/adk kit for Windows 10 1511. It still sees the folder for 8.1 which ois no longer there. I have rebooted after the change.

Hi friends :)

I recently formatted my computer, just like before, I installed W10 x64 .
My wife and me are Paragon users. I copy and paste her email settings to my program and not working for me.
I try with ports 25, 465 and 587, checking and unchecking the authentication box and always get this, even disabling the firewall.
Can you help me? Thanks in advance and have a nice day :)

Can I use Paragon to backup C drive to itself?

Hi there,

I've been trying to use Paragon Backup and Recovery 14 to backup my C drive to a USB stick.

Unfortunately it takes hours and then, when it gets to about 60% it has an error that says "VSS Can't read volume data".

I've tried running checkdisk on both drives and messing around with various settings but to no avail.

I wondered if it was possible to just backup the C Drive to itself and then I can just copy/paste the backup to the USB stick and maybe this work more robustly and...

Can I use Paragon to backup C drive to itself?

Once upon a time I had a C: and D: drives on my laptops 500 GB HDD, then Windows 10 forced itself upon me.

Now, I have:

*:Recovery NTFS 400MB capacity 274MB used 125MB free GPT, WRE flag None status
*:ESP FAT32 300MB 53MB 246MB GPT, EFI System
*: Other 128MB 0MB 128MB GPT, MSR None
C:Acer NTFS 464MB 89MB 375MB GPT Boot
*: NTFS 468MB 384MB 83MB GPT,...

HDM15S Build 813 Problem

Just noticed that W10 Pro 64-bit anyway, Build 813 has lost access to my WD My Cloud where I save my VD at. Windows sees it just fine. I'm on a dual boot with W7 which is still on the previous build. Have check it and also the BMB created USB flash that I made also.

EDIT:
No problem with W7 under the previous build or the BMB/USB flash drive. No problem in W7 with Build 813 either.

Must be a bug as I can mount one of the VD's stored on the network drive. I just submitted a support ticket.

After migrate OS

After successfuly migrated OS Windows 8.1.1 Pro x64 from older HDD WD to new one, also WD, with Paragon Hard Disk Manager 14 Pro Advanced Rescue CD 10.1.21.136 [WinPE 8.1x64], and started from this new one, I found that System Reserved partion from that new one migrated OS and new HDD can be seen and open but older HDD and same partion cann't. How to change this to be like on the old one?

I'm using HDM 15 with windows 10 - build 813
Using the rescue kit dvd I cannot restore a backup that I just made. I says it does not correspond to the target disk. I do need a reliable rescue disk and this is not working. Please help. Thanks.

I've tried posting a new support ticket, but after I get through filling in all the fields and press the send request button, nothing happens. ??

Also the Restore feature in the software is not working either. Just hangs and then says not...

Convert Win10 to GPT (UEFI)?

I own HDM15 Suite.

I just finished a clean install of Win10 on my laptop on an SSD. After spending time customizing Win10 and installing all my apps I noticed that the SSD I used is configured as MBR as that’s how it was formatted prior to the Win10 installation. My previous Win8.1 installation on another SSD is GPT formatted and boots faster and works with the laptop's UEFI BIOS boot setting.

Is there a relatively painless method of converting this installation to GPT (UEFI)?

I'm new here and a new user to DC-15 after running out of patience with A*****s. I've read the guide and searched the forum and I'm fairly happy that I understand, but I'd be grateful for confirmation that I am doing the right thing.
I have OS (Win 7 Pro) and applications on an SSD and all data on spinning discs. My aim is for disaster recovery in the event of the SSD failing - I know it's solid state and they "never" fail but I've had this happen once so I'm now doubly cautious.

Problem HDM 15 Premium - loop at startup (boot) Windows 10

My version Windows: Windows 10 Enterprise build 1511 (10586.36) (x64)

My version Paragon: Paragon Hard Disk Manager 15 Premium 10.1.25.813 (x64)

Problem: After installation Paragon Hard Disk Manager 15 build 803 loop at startup (boot) Windows 10.
There are no entries in the Windows Event Viewer. After uninstalling PHDM 15 Windows start correctly.

Changing the drive letter of an OEM-partition

Hey

On my Windows 10 drive there is an OEM-partition including support for UEFI.
The assigned drive is in the way of my other (usb)-drive and I want to change the OEM-partition drive letter in another letter.

Second I want to remove some of the install files on the OEM-drive. All language install files from Microsoft (I'll never/ever will use)

Laptop won’t boot following changing from HDD to SSD

I have just cloned the 320 GB HDD in my Dell XPS1340 laptop to a Sandisk 480GB SSD using Paragon Hard Disk Manager v2015 Suite.

The Dell is running Windows 7 SP1. It has the following partitions: (partition letter and name):
No Drive letter, Dell Utility; C System; D Data; E Programs; G Media
The laptop will not boot from the SSD. This is what I did to get to this situation:

1. Backed up (imaged) all partitions from laptop to external Toshiba HDD using Paragon Hard Disk...
